Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Patient perspective – Do we really know it all?

Join our insightful discussion workshop designed to challenge healthcare practitioners to reflect on the diverse range of patients encountered in their professional roles. In this session, we will explore whether we truly make all patients feel included, particularly those with protected characteristics.

Key topics include:

  • How to foster inclusive communication that respects the unique identities and experiences of patients.
  • Recognizing and adapting the language and behaviors we use to ensure that every patient feels welcome, respected, and valued.
  • Practical strategies to increase your awareness of EDI issues and improve the quality of care provided.

Peer review: What is the right recall?

This peer review session will provide Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians with the opportunity to explore various scenarios surrounding patient recall for their next sight test. The session will focus on the correct application of early retest codes in England, helping practitioners understand:

  • When it is appropriate to use early retest codes.
  • How to properly document and justify early recalls in patient records.
  • Best practices for aligning patient care with regulatory guidelines.

This peer review will enhance your skills in the areas of Professionalism and Leadership & Accountability, ensuring that patient recalls are managed both ethically and effectively.
